Environmental Services: Cleaning a COVID-19 Isolation Room

This case was designed to improve team preparedness for safely and effectively cleaning an ICU isolation room after use by a patient with suspected/confirmed COVID-19.

Learning Objectives: 

  1. Proper cleaning and disinfecting of a patient room after discharge of a suspected/positive COVID-19 patient;
  2. Donning and doffing appropriate PPE;
  3. Use of the ultraviolet light.
